„Polymer Engineering“ – that means the developing of innovativ and efficient plastic products with practical scientific research on modern polymer materials. 

To achieve this aim three qualified institutions work together under the leading of Prof. Dr.-Ing. V. Altstädt: the department of Polymer Engineering at the University of Bayreuth, the business area of plastics at the Neue Materialien Bayrueth GmbH and the division Polymer Engineering at the TuTech Innovation GmbH in Hamburg. The main research lies on the material, the construction and production with polymers. The development strategy consists of the analysis and use of causal relationships between processing, structure and properties of polymer materials.
